Programming - Marcel - Building and Energy systems


Hey! This is Marcel, designer and programmer for the WiP team. I'll be posting here some of my work on Katharsis, probably once or twice a week. If you have any question or suggestion, feel free to leave a comment and I'll answer as soon as possible ;)


These days I've been working on the basic logic for the building and energy systems.


Here you can see the building placement. 

Fading green = Building preview on a free spot

Fading red = Building preview on a taken / forbidden spot

Orange = Already built

It still needs some interface and feedback for the player, but we'll get to that this week.



On the other hand, this is the first take on the Energy System.

The big pillar in the center is a generator. It provides a fixed amount of energy to all buildings in a range, consuming other resources itself. If a building isn't provided with the energy it needs, it won't work.

Unfortunatley coding is more about what works behind the screen than what you can really see so, that's it for today.
